I’d Like to Deliver a Baby and Make Flakey Pastry

I’ve been pondering this question, ‘What things would I like to learn?’

And I have covered the least moronic ones in my list for this weeks Listmania which I am linking up to via the fabby blog Home Life Simplified.

These are the least embarrassing…

Quite Possible in My Lifetime

  1. I’d like to master my times tables, as I am SHIT AT MATH, in particular the 3, 4, 7 and 8. My daughter is 9 and she has mastered them all – she’s laughing at me a lot.
  2. I would love, love, love to go on a residential cookery course, somewhere green… Ireland perhaps. I want to learn to make pastry, the type of pastry that’s crisp and melts in the mouth, the type of pastry my Nana would have made (ALONE, I’d be there alone… with Chablis!)
  3. I’m shit with flower arranging… wish I could learn that too.
  4. If I ever returned to sunny Swansea I would like to go back to college and take my English Literature degree, that is a HUGE deal to me, it’s my ‘chip on my shoulder’ and I’d kill to flick the fecker off.

Might Just be Possible with the Help of Wine

  1. Now being that I live in Gran Canaria, you would think I’d be able to give it some welly on the dance floor when the old Spanish tunes comes on, well I can’t, I’m crap. I want to learn the Salsa, Meringue or Tango and I think with enough wine I might be able to – I can tap dance after all!
  2. I would really like to be able to swim and dive well. My children are in swim club and I am mesmerised by the beauty of their little bodies flying through the water. Maybe with wine I’d have the courage to dive… not sure how safe that would be like…
  3. I would like to learn how to rap, so that I could make my children laugh on car journeys. I currently make up rude poems, which they find hysterical, but rapping… hell now that’d be cool!
  4. I’d love to figure out how to design and printout a cool photo album for my children, I feel with wine and the radio, this might well be achievable.

big tango

Impossible… Who am I friggin’ kiddin?

  1. I’d like to learn how to work this pissing printer! I hate the bugger – no I’m scared of it.
  2. I would love to be able to dance on pointe for a day… Oh how I lust after those ballerina shoes!
  3. I’m crap at exercise, I just don’t get it… especially running, ugh! I so wish I could learn to love exercising (dream on Sarah, you’re shit mate).
  4. I’d love to learn how to deliver a baby – WOW!

Tell me, what would you love to learn?

Now why not pop over to Home Life Simplified and check out some of the other fab list post linked up there – let’s spread some linky love y’all!

how did i miss your post? love your list! math and science are my week spots – how many times a week do i have to say “seriously ask your father” they refuse to grasp my lack of knowledge on these matters – eldest is doing ties tables as well so at least i am good at that with her ; ) deb xx

Oh Debs I hate the maths! I say exactly the same ‘ask your father’. I just have a mental block with it, I can’t even do my 3 times table! LOL

But hell I make a mean soufflé so bugger it! x

Great list Sarah! I would like to learn to swim, too. I think it’s quite sad that my 3 year old twins will need to save me if I get in trouble – which I probably would – because I would probably have followed your lead & tried to learn to swim after wine. Swimming in wine, however…I won’t need saving.

One of your best budies, me, makes a living from Latin dance so no excuse, how many times have I asked you..When you home next, make a point of learning. I also delivered a baby when I was paramedic ing, most memorable experience ever, I was more excited than the parents, maybe it was something to do with them being 2 heroin addicts!! Needed a hit myself after to calm me down ……

I know, I know… shame on me! You’ll have to come back to Gran Canaria and teach me! Busman’s holiday, I’ll pay in fairy cakes!

Delivered a baby! I am as jealous as hell!!!!! I am in awe of midwifes, seeing a new life begin every day must be quite incredible, surely that’s something you’d never tire of?

Maths! I dream about sitting my maths exams, over and over… and I haven’t had to do one for over twenty years! I actually bought a book this week ‘Help your kids with maths’ by DK, and I am in heaven! All these tricks and tips no one ever told me about… nice to see someone else still wanting to relive those times tables to finally nail them… I just cannot get the seven times right. Good luck with your list.

    • losingmylemons March 6, 2013 at 11:17 am #

I’ve seen that book too Kate, thanks for jogging my memory! It’ll help both me and my son Ozzy who is learning his first times table now… AHHHHHHH! God help me LOL

It’s the eights that get me… tricky buggers!

Thank you so much for commenting x :)

Miss Lynch, my father, Mr Jones, is teaching the English Literature degree at Swansea Uni. I shall ask him to move the entire operation to your neck of the world if you’d like. Pay me in cake eh!!

    • losingmylemons March 5, 2013 at 9:55 pm #

Get going!!!!! Oh that makes me want to take the course even more! Is he as fab as you?

      I’ll start baking now…

  10. HonestMum.com March 5, 2013 at 9:36 pm #

Such a fab post, would love to learn to salsa properly. Know the basics and I’ve never been a confident swimmer! So envious you live abroad. Oh the sun, amazing x

    • losingmylemons March 5, 2013 at 9:54 pm #

      I know, it’s shameful that I can’t salsa!

How rubbish am I… I can’t dance Latin or swim and I live on an island that’s hot all year round and surrounded by the ocean… shocking! x
